Clarissa Kilthdigai by Heterodyne Clarissa Kilthdigai by Heterodyne
Another Nobilis 3e commission. This is Clarissa Kilthdigai, a Power that has a chariot pulled by several red horses that she likes to drive even in the modern world.

Though the original description and image didn't have any such elements, I was asked to filter the image through a steampunk "lens" (my love of Steampunk being known due to the conversation leading to these commissions). Because the image as printed will be smallish, I didn't want to get too detailed with that, as it would likely just become noise if I overdid it.

The steam-powered copper horses are the main element, but you can see a bit of it in her outfit, and of course she has the stereotypical goggles. She also holds the "sun" in her palm, which I treated as symbolic, like a tarot card image ... it's a glowing coil meant to signify a vacuum tube or incandescent bulb.

I added the patrol car on a lark, as the mental image of a Hollywood style high-speed car chase where one car is a chariot amuses me. Perhaps Clarissa is an anachronistic Prometheus, bringing the stolen fire of technology to inventor-adventurers throughout Creation...

Note: This is the original, full version of the image. The version in the book is likely to be somewhat cropped and scaled to fit a wider aspect ratio because we didn't realize that the original had been until the image was nearly done. (Instead of a ratio of ~1.414, it has a ratio of roughly 1.901. So at 1024 pixels wide, this image would be 539 tall, vs 724 as seen here, about 25% shorter.)

The left side of the picture is really good - the
police car is awesome, and so is her hair :)

If I dare nitpick a bit, though, Clarissa's left arm seems a bit
out of proportion, and maybe you could show the thumb more,
giving the hand shape more definition.

Overall, good work on light and colour, and it's nice to see
so many people willing to help Dr. Moran out :)

Nod. It is a bit out of whack, now that you mention it. One of my weaknesses, really.
